SAVE THE DATE – IAF Spring Meeting Member Event – May 13, 2019 in Frankfurt
On Monday afternoon May 13th, one day before the start of the Texprocess and Techtextil Fairs, the IAF will organize an exclusive and inspiring member event that offers you the perfect prelude to a Texprocess/Techtextil visit. As you may expect from us, we will combine strong content with good food and invite you to a lunch and drinks afterwards. That way, you can meet your colleagues from across the globe and from across the supply chain. This year, we are also opening our doors widely for our new generation of industry leaders. In addition to IAF (Board) members and a few selected relations, IAF will invite a number of young executives (< 35) from across the globe, bringing our total participant number at a maximum of 50 invitees.
Main focus mini conference
The mini conference will focus on the practical aspects of implementing digitization across the supply chain. We will go beyond an explanation of what the technology is. We will look at what a garment manufacturer and what a small to medium sized brand should actually do tomorrow, alone and together, to implement technology and to serve today’s customer.
Expert speakers
Gherzi is a renowned expert in the textile and garment industry and we are proud to be able to present its managing partner Giuseppe Gherzi as one of our speakers. In an interactive workshop, David Schmelzeisen of Aachen University’s Institute of Textile Technology (ITA), will be able to really let us experience the way technology enables new fashion brands to produce much closer to customer’s demand. IAF members represent the entire supply chain, from textiles to consumers so we can expect very interesting discussions!

Aachen University’s Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) is a famous institute within a renowned technological institute. Therefore, we gladly offer you an exclusive guided tour at ITA Aachen’s demonstration set up at the Texprocess and Techtextil Fairs on Tuesday, May 14th.

- Presentation by Giuseppe Gherzi, managing director of Gherzi Textil Organisation and Razvan Ionele, Head of Garmenting of Gherzi titled “Garmenting 4.0: Impacts on the textile added value chain”
- Workshop 1, lead by David Schmelzeisen, ITA Aachen University titled: “Building a new fashion brand based on technology, circularity and reshoring.”
- Workshop 2, in parallel, TBC
