SUSTAINABILITY: DECARBONIZATION
IAF is committed to driving the apparel industry’s transition to sustainable practices. Our Decarbonization efforts focus on establishing manufacturer led approaches through pilot programs in key production hubs, such as Türkiye and Bangladesh, to develop and implement a shared responsibility framework for reducing carbon emissions. By collaborating with major brands, retailers, and global initiatives, we aim to create scalable models that promote environmental stewardship and equitable climate action across the supply chain. Our goal is to ensure that climate action is a collective effort, with shared responsibility and benefits for all stakeholders involved.
Key Components:
- Shared Responsibility: Encourages a collective approach to climate action, where both brands and manufacturers share the responsibility and costs of decarbonization and where brands and manufacturers collaborate to attract necessary external funds
- Pilot Programs: Implements targeted decarbonization initiatives in key regions, such as Türkiye and Bangladesh, to test and refine sustainable practices.
- Collaboration with Global Initiatives: Aligns efforts with major global sustainability frameworks and organizations to amplify impact.
Goals:
- Achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions within the apparel supply chain.
- Create scalable models for shared responsibility in sustainability efforts.
- Engage members in meaningful actions and initiatives that promote environmental stewardship
