Interloop’s Apparel Plant achieves LEED Platinum Certification

Interloop’s newest Apparel Plant has been awarded LEED Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), achieving a record-setting score of 94 points—the highest rating in Pakistan across all categories. This facility also stands out globally, earning the highest LEED score for a facility of its scale. The 1.25 million-square-foot facility is Interloop’s most technologically advanced, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence. With large-scale automation, the plant elevates knitwear production to 45 million pieces annually.

Sustainability innovations include energy-saving systems, water management technology, and a 20% water recycling rate, supported by an effluent treatment plant. A biodiversity park further highlights Interloop’s focus on creating an environmentally responsible industrial ecosystem. Powered extensively by renewable energy—including biomass boilers—the Apparel Plant is a critical step towards Interloop’s Science Based Targets, decarbonizing operations and reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.

This achievement aligns with the company’s broader vision of integrating sustainability throughout its operations. “We set out to build a facility that reflects our values, using our past success with LEED Platinum and Gold-certified plants as a blueprint,” said Navid Fazil, Chief Executive Officer at Interloop. “We are proud of our team’s dedication to innovate, ensuring that as we grow, we continue to operate at the highest level of sustainability.”

The Apparel Plant joins Interloop’s growing LEED footprint, which includes two LEED Gold hosiery plants and a LEED Platinum denim facility. With continued investment in green infrastructure, Interloop proves that responsible manufacturing and high-volume production can work hand in hand. “We are just as ambitious in our efforts to build sustainable facilities as we are in creating a truly inspiring experience for our people,” added Fazil. “Interloop is setting an important precedent for industrial environments across the region.”

As Interloop advances its sustainability goals, the company remains focused on reducing environmental impact and inspiring industry-wide change. Through continuous improvement, innovation and transparency, Interloop is cementing its position as a leader in responsible manufacturing.
