Event: EU strategy for sustainable and circular textiles

On 26 March 2024, Centexbel, Creamoda, EURATEX and Fedustria are delighted to invite you to the “EU strategy for sustainable and circular textiles” event on the occasion of the Belgian EU Presidency.

The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the European textile strategy among European and Belgian opinion leaders and policy makers. It also offers a unique opportunity to further position the Belgian textile sector as innovative, sustainable and circular.

The vent will foresee 3 panel discussions with CEOs of textiles companies, experts from the EU institutions and the Belgian government, and researchers:

Panel Discussion 1 – The industrial dimension of the Textile Strategy
This discussion will take a closer look at the EU Textile sustainable strategy and make the link to European Industrial Policy; how do we put sustainability in a broader narrative of competitiveness ?

Panel Discussion 2 – The global dimension of the Textile Strategy
This panel will address the global impact of the EU Textile strategy. It will focus on a wide range of topics such as market surveillance (presenting REACH4Textiles study as a case study), the importance of setting global standards and the need for a level playing field, i.e.  with India and the US .

Panel Discussion 3 – The innovation dimension of the Textile Strategy
This discussion will focus on industry’s needs in technological and non-technological innovation, the role of research in collaboration with suppliers, customers, and universities or R&D centres. It will also analyse which role can play public funding and in particular, EU funded projects.
