IAF is investigating with the OECD the possibility of spreading globally the concept of ‘due dilligence’ as a guiding principle for the apparel industry in the area of social conduct. During the panel discussion Crietee explained that the industry is hurt by too many different systems for controlling and improving labour conditions. He also told the audience that associations and large companies may support a globally recognised framework if it helps to provide greater clarity to companies about which concrete actions to control and improve labour conditions in their supply chain may reasonably be expected of them.
